Hello, I'm Alice. Welcome to my Genius Hour blog!

Now, to be honest, I struggled with coming up with an idea for Genius Hour. I have quite a number of passions, but none of them felt right for Genius Hour. For example, I love reading, but I wasn't sure how I could make a driving question out of that.

How did I eventually come up with my question, you ask. Well, I thought about how I'm in a teacher program, I'm passionate about teaching, this is a technology course and technology is important and only getting more important in teaching. Then I thought: how can I connect technology and teaching in a way that is personally relevant to me and hopefully helpful to others?

I thought about how I've been teaching and tutoring in-person for the past few years when the pandemic hit and how we suddenly had to transition to online teaching. A program became extremely popular and important during this time: Zoom. I used Zoom at multiple jobs to teach students as close as Toronto and as far as China.

My question is: How can we use Zoom to teach effectively? My main goal for this project is to show how Zoom can be used as an effective and helpful teaching tool in online education. Also, I hope that through the process of creating this project, I can learn more about Zoom, making blogs and how to use technology as a tool in teaching.
